In-Between Spaces |2016

Awarded Best Research Thesis in 2016 by Institute of Architecture, H.N.G. University| It interests me in the relation between the people and the in between spaces. The space between two places is considered as a leftover space for all. But it is a synergy of lot things. The in between spaces when the viewer/user is neither at his starting point nor his destination. It is place where a lot of people pause/move and everyday a lot of things happen here though it is place which is never looked upon for a second time. I wondered that how can a space which is not a place be so familiar and have a sense of belonging to it that a person wants to spend some time here? How the ever changing space relate to the viewer? How are these spaces between places incredibly important to vitality and richness of urban life? How are these spaces are a transition between designed to natural dictation? Managed and unclaimed spaces? social and anti-social behavior? Control and freedom? Passing and pausing moments? Therefore i wished to explore the relation and dialogue between the viewers/users and these spaces in between along with the constants and transitions between them by dissecting the interactivity.
Integrative Design of Buildings, Trump Tower Chicago | 2018

An advanced study on Integrative Design of Buildings of Trump Tower with graduate students of Civil Engineering students of University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign, to understand the principles of buildings as goal-directed systems and the reasoning behind various design responses as the means, leading to the development of comprehensive integrative design ability for maximum value creation. Specifically, the study includes the anatomical and functional variations of building systems and their implications on design and construction; inter-system relationships and their synergistic and coherent integration into the overall building; and the strategies for designing buildings of great value through comprehensive integration

Biophilic Children Play Area Retrofitting For Indoors In Tall Apartment Buildings | 2018
The current global real estate development might be benefiting the economy and financial needs of the developers, key people of this development, state, country but it is definitely leaving behind the sensorial aspects of living experiences and forgetting that human is an intellectual “animal” who need to be around nature since childhood to grow. Richard Louv suggests ‘Connection to nature should be an everyday occurrence, and if we design our cities—including our homes, apartments, workplaces, and schools—to work in harmony with nature and biodiversity, this could become a commonplace pattern.’ Hence this is one of the major concerns and a barrier for children losing connection with nature.
To deal with this, this module with a combination of various sensory aspects for the children which can be used in a high rise apartment which retrofits indoors of the existing apartment. The module mimics nature and is biophilic.
